  • Why Do You Need Backup Protection?
  • Proper backups require the removal of complete copies of data from your computer your premises. Our staff will bring the necessary hardware and storage media to your premises and create a backup of your data. While creating the backup we will follow internationally accepted standards to scan for viruses and verify that we have accurately stored your data on the backup media. We also encrypt your data with a password. Once this backup is created, you will physically lock and secure the media in a portable vault, which will be removed from your premises and stored in a controlled fireproof environment on our premises. The above procedure enables us to offer a solid backup strategy similar to that used by several Fortune 500 companies.

The World Trade Center Bombing...Maharashtra Earthquake...Chatterjee International Building Fire...Natural Disasters. Each year, natural and man-made disasters cost billions of dollars. Most costly is the loss of time and revenue while computer systems are out of commission and businesses are out of touch with critical data.

    Some Specific Examples:

    User Error:
Users -- especially novice users - accidentally delete their files.

    System Staff Error:
Sometimes your system staff may make a mistake. For example, a system administrator who is deleting old accounts might accidentally delete an active one.

    Hardware Failure:
The average failure rate of computer hardware is 100%. ALL computers eventually break down no matter how expertly they are maintained.

    Software Failure:
Application programs occasionally have hidden bugs that destroy data under specific circumstances.

    Power Outrage:
Data can be lost if the electrical power being fed to the computer is lost abruptly. Data stored in the computers memory and hard disk can be corrupted in case of a power surge or ‘spike’.

    Computer Viruses:
The unchecked spread of viruses could result in system slowdowns, corruption of files and eventually loss of the complete system data.

    Theft:
Computers are expensive and easy to sell. For this reason, computers are often stolen. Cash from your insurance company can buy you a new computer, but it cannot bring back your data. Not only is it important to make a backup, it is also important to take it out of your computer and store it offsite so that if the computer is stolen, at least you have the data.

    Natural Disasters:
Backing up and storing away data offsite helps a company in recovering quickly from natural disasters such as earthquakes, fire and floods.

  • I already have floppies / tape drives, and do my own backups. Why would I need Computer Wizards Backup Services ?
  • Most businesses do not know how to do proper backups even though they may have floppies / tape drive. Some people think they are doing backups correctly, then when they really need them, they find out to their dismay that their backups are useless. Tapes and floppies are particularly ineffective in humid tropical regions like India where fungus is widespread. Many of our clients do have tape drives and use them in addition to our backup service. They like the added security of knowing that their critical files are safe with us.
